Chaga is a fungus that grows on birch trees and has a wood-hard growth, black and cracked on the outside and rust-brown on the inside.
Its very high nutritional value has made it very popular in recent years. It is attributed the ability to regulate the digestive system, control hypertension, and support the immune system among others, but it is mostly consumed for its high antioxidant content and for its anti-tumor properties that science is beginning to recognize.
Chaga is mainly consumed as an infusion. Its pleasant taste is reminiscent of coffee.
